The culture class trip to Enoshima Island and Kamakura. This was an overnight trip where we stayed at a ryokan. The difference between learning about something (how you receive a yukata to wear, the tatami, the futon, the public bath, etc) and actually experiencing it is astounding which is what made this trip so unique and something that one cannot do in the United States.

I thought overall it was very productive, but the level of independent study is very rigorous. I was prepared for it but I could see others were struggling with the pace and learning what level of work was expected of them outside of class time. I think learning alongside my Chinese and Korean classmates was the most interesting aspect of the program. I made some great friends and our only language in common is Japanese!

If you do take the appropriate level and really dedicate your free time to studying and staying on top of homework, your Japanese will really improve.

Meeting new people from all across the globe I made a lot of friends I’m am very thankful to have to experience and in the future I would like to study at KCP again to improve in my Japanese speaking skills

Just having everyone participate. I felt like it really helped make sure everyone would get a grasp on the material. Also just noticing stuff that we learned in class throughout Japan.

To me, the most interesting part of the program was the Kanji. I honestly loved every part of the program, so nothing was less interesting or productive.

I really enjoyed the class environment, teachers and meeting new friends. I also enjoyed getting the opportunity to travel around Japan during summer and fall break. I do not have any complaints!

The classes cover a lot of useful material and the supplementary English book for vocal and grammar is invaluable.

I greatly enjoyed the school trip to Odaiba. It was good way to see a different part of Tokyo and the water bus was a fun way to get there.

I feel like one of the things I like most is that you get 3 teachers. That is 3 different native speakers with 3 different teaching styles for you to learn from. Like last term I had 3 great teachers, they were all amazing, but one of them was my favorite because he always made class fun! Just the energy he brought into class and his teaching style made learning super fun, and that is great! I love that!
