I enjoyed the level of participation that one could perform.

James from Fall 2022

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The trip to Mt. Takao was the most satisfying for me because it was a chance to see nature outside of Tokyo. It was a great change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the city, and the history of the mountain was pretty interesting.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I enjoyed the level of participation that one could perform. It felt like there was always room to work on Japanese in and outside of class, with presentations for speaking, and supplemental classes for reading and writing. The least interesting would be when there was too much review of the homework material.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I found the games in class and some of the pair work to be the most helpful.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

Learning about the history of the specific area was really interesting. I also found the way that industries worked in Japan to be very fulfilling.

Testimonials

KCP is a wonderful program for those looking to, 1) see their Japanese abilities exponentially grow, and 2) to experience the culture hands-on. It’s also a program for those who don’t simply seek to party either. The program’s rigorous and demands attention to your school work, health, and managing time in between. Basically, you live, eat, and breathe a Japanese lifestyle. It’s great.
