The art week gave people a way to participate with the school and interact with other people.

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The art week gave people a way to participate with the school and interact with other people.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

Having all the students start from the same level really helped me feel more comfortable with learning new material. We are all there to learn and we don't have much experience, but we're all doing our best to study. The toughest part about the program is that a lot of time must be dedicated to studying and doing homework. It definitely helps to have this amount of work, but it can take away the experience of being able to go out more.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

The pair work and the textbook helped a lot in giving information and practicing after learning a new topic.

Any suggestions for improving class activities or materials?

KCP is a language intensive school. I think the difficulty comes from how well you can finish your class material and study. In my opinion I get lost on what I would have to do for homework, so maybe having something like a list on the whiteboard of the homework for the day would help.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

Having a structured time out of the week to go out to different locations. It would be a bit difficult to do it alone, so the help of KCP on these excursions were very much appreciated.

Anything you especially liked in the living arrangements? Any problems you experienced?

There was privacy and a good amount of space in my room. The location was a bit far away with few people living nearby. This made my schedule only focus on school and nothing else. It was a good thing that the cultural course scheduled time to go out.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Stick with the students at your KCP class and connect with them better. It's better to go through the experience of being in Japan rather than go through all of the troubles solo.

Testimonials

The textbooks and drill practice helped me study, the tests helped me figure out what I needed to study more. I often did small group study sessions outside of class as well, and those helped all involved, I believe.
