Unforgettable KCP memories to take back home!
Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?
The US program trip to Yamanashi prefecture was an unforgettable treat thanks to the natural beauty of the Japanese countryside. I feel like any chance to occasionally get out of the city and see rural locations in Japan would be great for many KCP students.
Why did you select this program?
Because its tuition seemed reasonable, and the chance to study Japanese in Japan was something I was willing to make sacrifices for.
What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?
Textbooks, games, learning new vocabulary and reinforcing kanji readings through literature, tests, private study software at home, drill practice were all helpful. Having a wide variety of studying methods and exposure was important.
Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?
If considering an academic year or more, prospective students need to really think hard about it and go above and beyond to make sure they are truly prepared for living alone for so long abroad. It is difficult even with support from KCP and new friends one will no doubt make through the program. If at all possible, they should strive to have extra money to spend to occasionally relieve stress when they do actually have free time-- be it through theme parks, rabbit cafes, arcades, responsibly drinking with new international friends if they are of age, trying local foods, or anything else.
