Practice problems, especially those received in the english support class were amazing.
Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?
I particularly enjoyed a trip we took to the waste management facility here in Tokyo. It was a bit smelly, but a wonderful experience to see just how much has to go into keeping a city of so many people clean and functioning.
What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?
classes were really great. the lower levels were particularly helpful for hammering home the basics of Japanese grammar, conversation and pronunciation. I also really liked club activities. they were great supplements to regular study. I wasn't a huge fan of group projects as the space to truly collaborate was rather small i think.
What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?
Im a big fan of drilling, so every time we were able to practice that was very helpful. Practice problems, especially those received in the english support class were amazing.
Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?
KCP is a great school and you can learn a lot here if you put in the work. Expect to study a lot, and expect teachers to be strict when grading, especially in levels 1-4. There will be days when you don't think you're getting any better, but thats usually because the classes are always going to be challenging. Thats a good thing. Also, I DO NOT recommend KCP to anyone who is trying to come to japan just to have fun.
