KCP Winter 2017 Students in Kamakura
Kamakura (鎌倉) is a town in Japan that’s less than an hour south of Tokyo. It makes for a convenient road trip and a favorite getaway from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo.
Kamakura holds a lot of historical significance for Japan. It was once the political center of the country under Minamoto Yorimoto, the founder and the first shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate, when he chose the city as the seat of his military government in 1192. The Kamakura government continued its rule in Japan until its decline in the 14th century.
Kamakura today is one of the favorite destinations for many visitors for its cultural and historical importance for Japan and its people.
